All we do for Halloween is go up to the Veatch farm. The kids are the only trick-or-treaters there and those two houses load them down with enough candy for a month! (Unless Mama and Daddy get their hands on it!)
Eowyn claimed she wanted to be a "happy witch" for Halloween, but the store was sold out by the time we went shopping. So she was fabulously pleased with a beautiful Cinderella gown. And Gideon did really well with the Scooby costume. He looked really cute, and seemed to enjoy it. Here's some pictures of our night!

Gideon's haircut
A couple of weeks ago I finally broke down and cut Gideon's beautiful hair. It was getting in his eyes, as you can see. This was also my first time cutting a boy's hair so it's not perfect, but I'll get better with practice I'm sure. Gideon did pretty good, although several snips were done too quickly. Oh well, here's the photos of the event!

Summer's end
With the amazing weather that started September, I was grateful for the end of the summer. Plus, Eowyn and I got to start homeschooling! I'm so excited. And she's so smart. My friend Jenny clued me into a really fun website, called Hubbard's Cupboard, that has some great lesson plans. We've started learning the Bible chronologically, starting with creation of course. For each day of creation she also learns the number and a color or two. When we get to Adam she'll start learning letters too.
The beginning of September also meant it's been a year since Gideon was born. (And, consquently, the beginning of this blog.) It's been a long, wonderful year. Gideon is finally sleeping through the night and in his own bed. It took some tough loving one night, but he's been great ever since. He's also walking and trying to run like a pro. So cute! I love it. I got him some shoes a couple weeks ago, and he just looks like a big boy. And he is! At his appointment on Tuesday, he weighed 24 lbs and 13 oz. He is less than 4 lbs from weighing as much as his sister! And he's 31 inches tall. He's such a sweetie, and he loves him some lovin'! He loves Eowyn and is always trying to snuggle with her, much to her dislike. He wants to play whatever she's playing and this causes many fights. And yes, he fights just as well as he loves. Gideon had two family parties this year. The Veatch side came over one night to have dinner and cake, and then the Allen side came up on his birthday. We had dinner, and cake again, and went to play putt-putt. Gideon really likes games, and does pretty well at putt-putt, although he doesn't use the golf club. He knows the ball has to go in the hole, so he goes from hole to hole, throwing and then placing the ball in the hole.
By the end of summer I'm always ready to get back into a schedule of some sorts. We had a great summer, but I'm glad for the cooler fall weather and the inspiration the weather brings!
